People, thank you for being such a gigantic, beautiful, constant support during the past 5 months...  When I contacted Tams-Whitmark regarding this show, they informed me it was a "kids" musical, which usually runs 45 minutes long WITH an intermission.  After I had cast and held our first parent meeting, I still thought it a kids musical.

It wasn't until the first read through that Fiona and I looked at each other and realized this was WAY more then a 45 minutes musical.  This is a JUNIOR musical...  You have been SO generous with your time, your children and your support, I can hardly keep myself from crying as I type this email.

Yesterday so many of you amazing parents helped me set up the gym, cut out and tape the numbers to the chairs,  arrange the chairs, provide a beautiful potluck lunch for the kiddos... I mean, the list goes on and on and on... How can I ever thank you all for being so supportive and wonderful.  This is why your children are such great kids.. They have the BEST examples!!!!  Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!

What an incredible journey we have had to reach this point.. I wasn't sure if we were going to pull it off, but, gosh dangit, we did... And both casts are AMAZING.  Our chorus is AMAZING.  The show is awesome.  You should be very proud of your children.

Before I talk about calltime and what to expect this week, let me make a little note about our ticket sales:

Monday is MORE then sold out... I have added one more row, plus 2 benches to accommodate our guests.... It is going to be an amazing opening night for Cast A!!

Tuesday is SOLD OUT... (well all but two tickets... if you want one of these let me know.  Row G seat 21 and Row H Seat 3.  If more people show up on Tuesday, or any of you want more tickets this night we have an entire row I have added.. Row I...  My janitorial staff is picking up 55 more chairs from the north campus and bringing them over tomorrow night.

Wednesday is always the hardest night sell as it is mutual for a prominent religion and is usually attended the least.  These are the seats still available on Wednesday night. Single seat: Row E seat 3.......Row G seats 22, 23..... Row H seats 1-10 and 17-26...plus all of the Row I which I just opened.

Thursday is nearly sold out... Here are the seats still available: Single seat front Row A, seat 3.......  fourth Row D 23-26.......  another single seat Row G seat 9....... and Row H seats 9-11 and seat 25-26

Friday is MORE then sold out.... I added Row I... Here are the remaining seats available for Cast A closing night: Single seat Row G seat 1.......  Row H seat 26.......  Row I seats 1-7 and 18-26.  

Saturday is MORE then sold out...  Here are the seats available for Cast B's closing night!!  Row G seats 19-22....... Row I seats 1-9 and 24-26  I opened these seats up yesterday... and they are nearly sold out already.

That is INCREDIBLE PEOPLE!!!  4 MORE then sold out shows.. I'm so excited for these kids.. that is amazing!!!!

Couple of reminders.

The DVD... We are filming on Wednesday and Thursday for SURE and hopefully Friday and Saturday for extra footage, but no promises... The cost of the DVD is $25 for one and $15 for any additional DVD's... Checks can be made out to Jason McFarland... or Paypal him at  qqsaraqq@gmail.com   I have a few checks for him.  This show is something I think everyone should have.. Some of these kids might never have an experience like this again?? Who knows what will happen in 7th grade?  Will they continue with the theater??  I hope so, but just in case, here is a perfect opportunity for you to remember this musical forever.

The Show:  Is starts at 6:30 pm... I am a STICKLER for starting on time my friends...  The theater doors will not be open until 6:10.  We will be doing last minute things on the stage before 6:00.

CALL TIME:  Call time is a time set for your children-the actors- to be to the school.  Call time for everyone is 5:30!!  at 5:30 your children need to be at the school.  IN FULL MAKEUP, FED DINNER, dressed in their opening costume and their laundry basket containing their other costumes.  
Please do not send your children with snacks or food of any kind from here on out.  Please feed them before they come.
Also ABSOLUTELY "NO" electronic devices may be used while the performance is going on.. 
Please send them with a book if you wish.

Toto, Scarecrow, Lion, Nikko, Witch and Tinman  Your call time is "4:30"... 4:30 for you guys!!!  FOUR THIRTY!!!!  Please DO NOT BE LATE!!!

Anyone who has signed up to help with makeup, please be at the school at 4:30 also.  Tandi would love THREE people backstage to help her every night. If this could happen, AWESOME!!!!

PS Thank you to those of you who donated concessions... I rented 5 more mics ($1,400), bought another wonderful speaker ($700), bought lights for the south campus stage and a spot light ($4000), not to mention building the amazing set, purchasing costumes and the 100 other little things that go into a production this size.. Everything thing costs money, right? It was $175 just for the batteries alone for the microphones... I have used every single penny of our $55/fee and all of our tickets sales to cover these costs... Thanks again for making it an amazing production!!!

OH MY FREAKING HECK    WE OPEN IN FIVE FLIPPING DAYS PEOPLE!!!!!
This is where the show takes off!!!  No more direction (other then notes at the end of rehearsal), no more freak outs... It's just enjoy what you've learned, enjoy how you've created your own characters and away we go!!  FUN WEEK!!! It really pulls together today!

Sadly, we have had a bunch of "food thefts" :(  This actually breaks me heart.  I can't explain enough how hungry kids are after school, even on wednesdays after they have just eaten their lunches... They are growing so quickly and we are running around, dancing, and out of breath a lot during this show.  I had one child tell me, they were sorry they have stolen other peoples food, but they are never packed an "after school lunch" for rehearsal and are starving....
If you haven't already planned a lunch for your kids tonight, please make sure you provide one.  Thank you so very very much!!

ADDITIONAL REHEARSAL
FRIDAY, JANUARY 16TH
I AM HOLDING AN EXTRA REHEARSAL ON FRIDAY JANUARY 16TH, IN ADDITION TO THE "TWO" REHEARSALS ON SATURDAY JANUARY 17TH.

TIME: 3:45-6:30

THIS WILL BE A FULL TECH REHEARSAL, FOR THE AMAZING HATCH BOYS on mics and lights AND GABEE on sound...
I HAVE NOT DECIDED IF CAST "A" LEADS OR CAST "B" LEADS WILL BE FEATURED AT THIS REHEARSAL.  IT IS WHICHEVER LEADS NEED MORE REHEARSAL , HOWEVER, BOTH CASTS PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING.  AND ALL CHORUS.

Rehearsal on Saturday was amazing... So fun to see everyone in full character and having fun... all their hard work is finally paying off!  What an awesome day!!

Saturday, Gabs is gonna run out to grab pizza for me and Iz for lunch.  Those of you whose children are at the school all day, "IF YOU WANT", this is not required, just another lunch option, please send $3-$4 with your child and I will pick up pizza for everyone who sends money.  Pizza and drinks... 
I'll send a reminder Friday night for those interested... 


COSTMES WILL BE USED TODAY AND EVERY REHEARSAL FROM NOW ON.  PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH COSTUMES TO REHEARSAL IN THEIR LAUNDRY BASKET SO WE CAN KEEP THEM ORGANIZED.

HELLO MY FRIENDS!!!

I am putting together the programs.. Before I do, I wanted to make sure I have the correct information.

Please double check below and make sure everything is correct:


1. Correct spelling of name
2. Correct Cast
3. Correct Character names
4. Is your child listed at all???
(Names, titles and cast list at the end of this post)

Let's review what we discussed at our parent meeting!!! WOOT WOOT
1-Laundry Baskets.  Please send your kids costumes to the show in a laundry Basket
2-ALL black shirts MUST be tshirt style but LONG SLEEVES... no short sleeves please
3-If you have a cape in munchkinland, winkie guard or anyone else who is wearing a cape, please wear black pants, black shoes and black long sleeve shirt under it.
4-TIGHTS!!  Tights do not have to be striped.  if you can find them in plain colors, get them.  Also I heard that if you go to a soccer store they sell them for $4

5-JITTERBUG DANCERS:  Costumes; Black leggings, or jazz pants.  Black long sleeve tshirt.  Decorate it to look like a bug.. Feel free to use wings, glitter, bright colored stripes, or polka dots of all sizes...  just Buggy... 
6-DVD's.  I am definitely having the show filmed.  
Cost: $25 for first DVD.  $15 for every additional DVD.
Pay three different ways.  1) Cash 2) Check made payable to Jason McFarland 3) PayPal. Send payment to qqsaraqq@gmail.com One DVD will contain "both" casts.  No need to buy one dvd for cast A and one for cast B.

7. If you have had me pull tickets, I have them with me.. You are welcome to pay for them at any rehearsal.  No need to make a special trip into the school, Just come in when dropping off or picking up your child..
8.  Tickets will be sold at every rehearsal..

THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS!!!

IT'S ALMOST HERE!!!! 
AGGGGHHHHHHH  
THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS TO OUR MONDAY OPENING NIGHT  WHAT THE HANK!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
THIS IS CRAZY TOWN!!!!

WOW what a fun ride it has been to get to January!! Lots of hard work from our amazing cast.... Lots of hard work from our amazing parents.  Lots of hard work from our amazing production team!!!

I have worked non stop through the holiday break with several people, Gabee Snarr, Aaron Wilcox, Fiona Ostler and Court Welsh, to build our sets, find our props and get ready for our January rehearsals and performances.  In fact, the only day off Gabs, Aaron and I had were on Christmas Day... It was well worth it... You are going to DIE when you see the amazing sets!!!

That's right people, there are only a few days left!!
PARENT MEETING MONDAY, JANUARY 5th  AT 6:30 after rehearsal!!!!!  This is a 100% ridiculously over the top "important meeting"..   We will be discussing hair, makeup, DVD recording of the show, programs, rehearsal schedules, and my needing help with a few more things for our show... Everything is basically all finished, but, there are a couple things left.

I EXTREMELY proud of our amazing Wizard of Oz casts and chorus... It is a HUGE task taking on a show this big.  It would be a gigantic accomplishment for a high school cast, but being that these are 5th and 6th grader??? AMAZING!!! AND YOU GUYS DID IT!! (well, we are still a few weeks away), but YOU ARE DOING IT!! :)  It has been an honor and joy working with not only the kids in the show, but getting to know all of you amazing parents... I am so blessed to have you all in my life... I adore your children.. and I adore all of you!!!

DVD's can now be ordered!!! WOOT WOOT!! This is the greatest thing in the world, if you ask me.. A record of this magnificent experience.. Jason McFarland is our videographer again this year... 
DVD's cost $25 for one  $15 for any additional DVD's. 
Jason is accepting CHECKS (made out to Jason McFarland, CASH or PayPal -this is a free service to you and Jason.  You can do this securely from your phone or computer.  Please pay him as an individual-not a business and send it to qqsaraqq@gmail.com) 



Note to Cast A and B leads and non leads... 
Please bring homework, a book, or anything else that will occupy your time. It is important that we have both casts at this and ALL Monday rehearsals throughout January, but, as you know from past rehearsals, we cant get to both casts evenly.  Prepare for this..  

For January, I approve the use of  iPods, iPads, Nooks, Phones or anything else you want to listen to or play on while you are not on stage working... To avoid thefts, when you are not on stage, I will have a basket by me at the directors table.... Simply put your device in the basket and grab it back out when you head back to the hallway....
